Sir Arthur C. Clarke was a British science fiction writer and futurist, one of the genre's Big Three alongside Asimov and Heinlein. He proposed the geostationary communications satellite in 1945 and co-wrote 2001: A Space Odyssey with Stanley Kubrick.
