_____ figuration: an anthology of trans writers

Gender is poetry, but it is also fiction, personal essay, experimental forms, hybridity. The works in this book defy genre, decorum, and biological sex. Within these pages, gender is literature. All forty-one of the selected contributors to this anthology are bending the parameters of language to make room for each other. Some of the writers you will encounter here are seasoned awardees, and for some, it’s their first publication. The content of this book was gathered in response to an open call not just for writing on trans topics, but writing about anything by trans writers. Chroniclers from the world over offered the brave gift of their words. In this way, we feel that the prefix trans meaning across is accurate. We are together offering a collection across generation, genre, demographic and experience to become a drop in the beautiful, wide lagoon of queer literature.
